SUPR Treatment and Recovery Training

Overview of the model, how to implement it, demonstration of a session, role-play practice of a session by attendees, with video clips and experiential exercises. This training also includes attention to trauma-informed care.

Recovery coaching as a peer-to-peer recovery support services has grown exponentially over the past few years. Ethical considerations have been discussed in many circles, yet formal training has been lacking for recovery coaches. This training addresses this critical need. Based on the widely used Ethical Guidelines for the Delivery of Peer-based Recovery Support Services by William White and PRO-ACT (2007), we designed this training to help coaches, and anyone else working in the peer role, to understand how critical it is to be ethically responsible. Using presentations, small group work, and role play to address many areas including defining the coaching service role and functions, coaching standards, issues of vulnerability, ethical decision-making, performance enhancement, and legal issues.

PARTICIPANTS WHO COMPLETE THIS TRAINING WILL:

• Understand what ethics are and why ethics are so important when performing Recovery Coach Services
• Learn how to stay in your lane as a recovery coach
• Understand the decision-making process
• Develop guidelines for making ethical decisions
• Apply the new learning to your everyday work as a Recovery Coach

The fourth edition of the ASAM Criteria builds on the past 30 years of the Criteria and provides an updated, streamlined, and pragmatic approach to assessment and treatment planning. This 4.5 hour session will provide a consolidated overview, in addition to some of the "why" in relation to the major changes in terminology, levels of care, dimensions and assessment processes. 

All participants receive an in-depth electronic training journal to guide the training experience and as a resource for continuing skill application, as part of the training.

Participants will identify the unique challenges faced by adolescents with substance use disorders and how to best approach their course of treatment. Develop an awareness of specific skills and strategies to work effectively with adolescents and their families.

Providing telebehavioral health services legally, ethically, and safely requires preparation and protocols that are different for each profession. Learn the essential ethical considerations for direct-to-consumer telebehavioral health services and how to prevent and respond to ethical issues. Illinois-specific regulation guidelines and practical resources will be included. Intended for Illinois-Licensed Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, Addiction Therapists, and Marriage and Family Therapists.
